Pull on your spandex hunty, we're having a Pride Ride!*  This Pride Month celebration on wheels is for everyone who can ride a bike, meaning you!

Join Great Outdoors Los Angeles for a free beginner bike ride through Griffith Park, Burbank, and the L.A. River Greenway/Frogtown. This mostly flat route will get your leg muscles woke! for possibly some more advanced rides in the future. The ride will be 15 or 20 miles, depending if you continue with us to the L.A. River and lunch.

Here's the updated plan:

Meeting location:
Griffith Park Pony Rides parking lot. 4400 Crystal Springs Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90027  (Actually, look for us at the southernmost parking lot nearest the entrance to the park, closest to Los Feliz Blvd.)

Schedule
9:15 am    Meet time, Pre-ride safety talk, Upcoming events. We will go over basics of group biking, so be sure to arrive early enough to hear these pre-ride safety tips.
10:00 am  Roll-out time!

See our interactive route map!

Griffith Park-Burbank loop (15 miles): We begin near the south entrance of Griffith Park (see meeting location).  Bike northwards through Griffith Park. Continue via bike lane past Forest Lawn, loop through a bit of Burbank, Disney Animation studios, and pleasant equestrian neighborhood.  Return through Griffith Park. [Ends at the meeting spot/parking lot if you need to leave]

11:30 am Continue on to:

L.A. River Greenway/Frogtown-Lunch & Drinks (5 miles): Now we head to the Los Angeles River Greenway Bike Path. The Glendale Narrows is a lush, popular, tree-lined part of the river with a soft-bottom which allows plant growth. Look for birds like Great Blue Herons along the river, and the parks and eateries which have sprung up along this Frogtown stretch of the path.

We'll probably first head to Spokes Bicycle Cafe for an optional coffee or brunch stop. Then back up to Frogtown Brewery where optional beers and "Caribe Fusion" food truck are scheduled to be available.

Everyone's free to enjoy this social time leisurely and head back together, or explore on your own and return as you wish. Other options include Lewis McAdams Riverfront Park, La Colombe (specialty coffee/ pastries), Salazar (upscale Mexican & cocktails) and other neighborhood gems.

By around 3 pm Head back to Griffith Park parking lot

Bring: a bike in good working condition, wear comfortable clothing, and at least a water bottle if not a second bottle of a sports drink (i.e., Gatorade). Also recommended is a helmet, spare tube(s) and/or patch kit if you are able, and a fun-loving attitude.

Look Pride-y:

Festive bike decor encouraged, wigs, flags, costumes all welcome! We have little pride flags for the first 25 participants who register on this site.

Trip leader: Danny Nava, AIDS/LifeCycle expert rider!
Co-Trip leader: Bryan Matsumoto, Climate Ride novice rider!

* J/k no bike tights needed, only if you like extra padding for your bum! And actually bike shorts are made of lycra, not spandex. Pro tip!

Did you register yet? Girl! How you gon get the update?

Danny will print up route directions with telephone numbers in case anyone should get separated from the group.
