Coast Cleanup Day

You’re officially invited to join us on September 21st for Coastal Cleanup Day! As you may know, part of the purpose of our parent organization, Great Outdoors, is to “instill in its members a respect and appreciation for the environment and a desire that it be protected for this generation and for many to come.” While we normally do that through camping trips and hikes, this year, we in the San Diego chapter have decided to take it a step further and help clean up this beautiful area of California coastline we call home.

The event takes place on Saturday, September 21, from 8:30 AM to noon. (Location details will be provided to registrants.)

Projects include: Litter removal from surrounding area, replanting succulents with decorative rocks, painting, storm drain stenciling

Volunteers will need to bring work gloves, a filled, reusable water bottle, and a 5-gallon bucket, if not a trash picker-upper as well, which you can easily find and order online.

You can find out more about the history of Coastal Cleanup Day and how it’s part of the larger International Coastal Cleanup by visiting the event website

Those of us who are interested may grab lunch together afterwards.

If you'd like to join, please register right away, as we’ll have a team of 12 people max.

We appreciate your interest in this event and hope to see you there!

Yours in the great outdoors,

GOSD Core Group
