Emma Wood State Beach Campout

Monday, March 30 through Thursday, April 2, 2020

Emma Wood State Beach campground is two miles west of Ventura. North Beach is reached via Highway 101. see map  State Park phone number: (805) 585-1850.

Sites are $30 per night during our campout. Sites at Emma Wood State Beach are first-come first-serve from labor day till mid May. To ensure there's plenty of sites for you to reserve I will get there a day early and communicate with you about availability of spots. There should be no problem and you getting a spot since we're going to be there Monday night through Thursday. Brian Davis 760-333-6842.

The campground is a long, approximately one-mile side road down the frontage of the beach with 90 campsites all facing the water. Your RV will be about 30 feet from the surf. As a group we will be there three nights Monday night March 30 through Wednesday night, and departing Thursday April 2.

Moderate temperatures help make Emma Wood State Beach popular for swimming, surfing and fishing. Catches include perch, bass, cabezon and corbina. The Ventura River estuary is at the mouth of the Ventura River at the southeast end of the park. It attracts a variety of wildlife including raccoons, songbirds and great blue herons. Dolphins are occasionally seen just offshore. The park also features the crumbling ruins of a World War II coastal artillery site. The offshore Channel Islands can be seen from the beach.

Emma Wood State Beach offers primitive camping for fully self-contained vehicles ONLY. Tents are not permitted. No water, restrooms, electricity, fire rings, or phones or dump station are available. There are 90 campsites, which are not level and may contain a mixture of asphalt, dirt, cobble and ocean debris. Maximum vehicle length is 40 feet, due to small turnaround areas. We will try to congregate between sites 5 through 17. If not, then sites 25 and 55.

High tides may close the campground at any time. Railroad tracks and Highway 101 are adjacent to the campground which can be noisy.

Leashed dogs are permitted in the campground only, and are prohibited on the beach.  Please bring one bundle of firewood to use at the evening campfires. Feel free to contribute to the evening tea with side dishes you would like to bring.

Average temperature for Ventura:  March 65° / 50°;  April 67° / 51°; Average rainfall 1 to 2 days a month.

Payments:  We accept the following credit cards:  MC, VISA, Discover or Amex.

RefundsCancellation for a refund must be received by March 24, 2020.   All cancellations must be sent to the Trip Leader.

Prices are based upon each person going being a GO Chapter paid member (day use does not require a GO membership). You can join - click here - and then register for this campout.
