We’re back in business!

Come celebrate returning to the outdoors with a picnic and hike with your Great Outdoors friends! We’ll be at Big Morongo Canyon Preserve on Friday May 14 from 9am to noon. Look for us at a picnic table near the entrance kiosk.  The Preserve opens at 7:30, so if you come early, start hiking without us. Bring your own picnic lunch or snacks, and bring a camp chair and drinking water. Also, bring a mask to wear when you are within 6 feet of another hiker. We'll also do a hike which will leave about 10:00 am from the parking lot and return around noon. We'll post more details on the hike before the event.

The Preserve has a number of short hikes that you can do on your own and trail maps are available at the information kiosk click here. There are large areas through groves of large trees which provide lots of shade.  Some of the trails are on boardwalks, and there are benches located along the trail perfect for eating lunch.  There are flush toilets near the entrance kiosk and there is a parking lot that holds over 20 cars. No dogs are allowed at the Preserve.

Directions:  Morongo Valley is located about 25 miles north of Highway 10 on Highway 62. The Big Morongo Canyon Preserve entrance is located on East Dr. in Morongo Valley.  Turn right on East Dr. and left into the entrance road. It is easy to find; click to find it using Google Maps. There is no fee to use the Preserve, but donations are welcome and help with the upkeep and trail maintenance.
