The Randall Henderson trail celebrates Randal Henderson’s vision for the Palm Desert area.  He worked as an editor of the Desert Magazine and was also founder of the Desert Protective Council.  This organization has helped promote and protect natural and cultural wonders of California’s deserts through science, advocacy, and education.

The trail starts at the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto National Monument Center just off Highway 74.  The trail consists of washes and canyons with three trail loops.  The Wash Loop: 1.2 mile, the Cholla Loop: 1.7 mile, and the Canyon Loop: 2.2 miles.  Hiking on these trails has some outstanding features which includes, but are not limited to, wildlife habitat, endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep, cacti and other low desert vegetation.
