LA - Scenic hike along Bluff Cove in Palos Verdes

Join us on September 21 from 10 am to 2 pm for a 3-mile scenic hike along Bluff Cove in Palos Verdes, with stop for lunch at the park above the ocean and the old ship wreck along the coast.

Bluff Cove to Lunada Bay Trail is a 1.7 mile out and back trail located near Palos Verdes Peninsula, California, that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels.

The trail leads down to the rocky beach so make sure to have a sturdy hiking boot. Find or bring a walking stick.

SS Dominator, a freighter, ran ashore on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in the South Bay area of California in 1961 due to a navigational error while lost in fog. Its remains can still be seen. For days the coast guard and others tried to get the boat back into the water, but the weather that had grounded it there also kept it from being freed. Mother Nature then ran its course and continued to beat upon the ship turning it into the remains that it is today.

Meeting point: There is no sign that marks Bluff Cove, just the "Emergency Vehicles Only" sign at the top of the trail, on Paseo del Mar. Park near the sign.

Pets: Pets are permitted if they are properly restrained and under the control of the owner. Dogs must be licensed, restrained on a leash not longer than six feet, and attended at all times. Please bring doggie bags and clean up any of their waste.
